I remember when these restaurants were almost everywhere, but this is the only one my parents and I were able to locate in the Tampa area during a recent visit. And we consider ourselves very lucky indeed! The amazingly fresh fish is prepared pretty much any way you want it. Though there are specialties and suggested preparations listed on the thorough menu. I always feel like I've come to a favorite aunt's seafood restaurant whenever I go to a Leverock's. This location will be our family's favorite for some time to come. By the way, the lobster bisque and mashed potatoes are to die for. MMM. Easily accessible location from S. Pasadena and the barrier islands.

We went here for our anniversary dinner and I was very disappointed. Do not get the stuffed shrimp. It was made with fake slimy crab meat and was swimming in greasy butter.

Great service (Emilio rocked it!) and the quality of the food was outstanding! Very fairly priced.

I'm visiting from California so I'm used to some great seafood and I was pleasantly surprised by Leverock's - some locals took us here! Atmosphere - not bad. Cozy but not like a diner. Clean and fairly up to date. Food - delicious! Clam chowder had to be some of the best I've ever had! It was creamy, fresh, hot, and flavorful! Bread and olive oil dip was heavenly because the bread was warm and fresh plus the herbs in the olive oil were chosen just right. Side salad with meal was large and fresh, croutons were so tasty! Dinner I had the stuffed Tilapia and fried shrimp with baked potato - I think there was a little rice pilaf under the fish too. This dinner was very good and large! It was fresh and tasty. I love that the shrimp were cut open and the batter was not greasy. The Tilapia was a great size but the crab stuffing was a litttttle sweet for me..nothing some fresh ground pepper couldn't solve. My mom and a friend had the shrimp and lobster scampi pasta - they both cleaned their entire plate and said it was amazing. Another friend had the Leverock's seafood platter and enjoyed hers as well. Alcohol - we went on a Sunday night and house drinks were 2 for 1. Specific wines, wells, and a few beers. Great deal! Service - exceptional. The host was welcoming and urgent. Our waitress was extremely polite, friendly and attentive.

This is not a memorable place to eat. Nothing is overtly bad, but there are many better choices.

Update to another trip to St Pete beach and still think this place is over-rated and not worth the money. Won't be back. Fish is just fair, small portions, and the steamed vegetables are just down right terrible. I give them 2 stars because the wife likes the clam chowder.

the wait was long and the food was overpriced and over rated

I went to Leverock's this year to observe International Clam Chowder Day. Having spent the last four years in Massachusetts, I was pretty skeptical of my potential Clam Chowder Day experience in Florida. What do Floridians know about New England Clam Chowder anyhow? I was very pleasantly surprised by Leverock's menu and especially their chowder. The clams were large and tender, the real highlight of the soup. While the base was maybe a little thinner than I would have expected in Portland, Maine or Boston, it was definitely delicious. Additionally, my friend's side of fries were some of the best I've had in a long time. They have a great variety of things aside from their tasty seafood and a decent atmosphere. One of my friends was very pleased with her Thai chicken wrap. Our server was also very nice. If you're looking for good, reasonably-priced clam chowder, I see no reason not to go to Leverock's.

There is ample parking. I love the grilled sea bass here. They have a full bar. The seating is comfy, mostly booths instead of tables. Great service.

Their famous clam chowder was nothing special. The seared sashimi tuna was excellent. This place is O.K. for a local but if you are just visiting this area, there are too many other restaraunts you should eat at before Leverocks.

Wonderful place to go if you're elderly or like being around elderly people...a lot of elderly people...seriously...wall to wall old folks. They also serve "food." They obviously cater to the blue hair crowd because it's very bland. The menu is not vast. The lobster bisque was unique. Unique, in this case, being a synonym for disgusting. Not much lobster in it, overly creamy and just nasty. The breading on the fried shrimp tasted like corn dog batter. The lobster tail was tough and flavorless. Tried to redeem the meal with the house specialty peanut butter pie which had come highly recommended but I couldn't tell you why. Had mystery hint of cinnamon...still confused by that. No plan to go back...maybe for an early-bird special when I hit retirement age.

Great chowder. Great chillean sea bass tonite. Reasonably priced. If the wait for a table is long, sit at the bar.

Leverocks is still one of the better deals for seafood in the area. This is a moderately priced traditional place popular for older folks. Sadly the owner died. May he rest in peace. Service sometimes lacks enthusiasm and even with a reservation you may have to wait. No water views. But the seafood basic are pretty solid..

I had the San Francisco, which included scallops, grouper and shrimp. Everything was cooked perfectly and came out on time with everyone else's orders. Other people at our table had Ahi Tuna, Lobster Bisque and coconut shrimp. Everyone was happy and full by the end. The atmosphere was very relaxing, dark wood, mood lighting and a few well placed televisions. The staff was friendly, thoughtful and accommodating. We will definitely be back.

Had a great lunch. The whole family enjoyed it. Kids shrimp plate was big. The Key lime pie was wonderful.

This is one of my favorite seafood restaurants in the area and I love so many things on the menu. The bread, the coconut shrimp, and the homemade croutons are all things I look forward to when I come here. The atmosphere is pretty good as well. The only complaint I've ever had about the place is the service can be inconsistent, but I love too many of the dishes not to come back.

The fried grouper was A-OK but kind of bland. Two of the people we came here with absolutely love the fish and chips. They got the fish and chips and we're very pleased. Next time I go back I'll take advice of people who know what they're talking about but also get fish and chips. Nevertheless that doesn't discount the fact that I did enjoy the grouper. I usually get my grouper blackened; but didn't have the choice here. So I went with fried enjoyed the change, despite the fact it was rather bland. This place can be packed especially for the early dinner specials. We got there slightly after the early dinner specials ended and the crowd wasn't too bad but there may be a slight wait on the weekends. Friendly and fast service absolutely no complaints. Leverocks is only okay, and the location it pretty boring. There are plenty of other places you can go in the area for really good seafood. I would say Leverocks is a better fall back than first choice, but we will see if that changes after I try the fish and chips.

Everything was great, very good prices. Key Lime pie made from scratch, as is the clam chowder, both among the best I've ever tasted. Even the children's meal was generously portioned. If you want loud music and trendy, go elsewhere. If you want great food in a comfortable atmosphere, this is the place at St Pete's Beach.

We found this place using YELP. The staff was very friendly at the door. Our Server Blake was very Awesome for such a young man. Our Beers kept coming and my Tea stayed full. The meal was very tasteful. We ordered the Tuna Sashimi and it comes with seaweed salad. We also got the stuffed Tilapia with Fried Shrimp, it was very enjoyable. The last entree we got was the Stuffed Shrimp with Bacon Wrapped Scallops. We will definitely be back if we come through this area again. We are traveling from SC. You MUST try the House Caesar dressing. It should be on every grocery store shelf.

A good, solid three stars. The food is typically good, basic seafood fare. Nothing challenging and the menu doesn't ever seem to change. Still good. My parents love near here, (and from the gray hair and the number of handicap tagged Buicks in the parking lot, it's clear many people's parents do). I've been now six or seven times and have a real affection for it. My only real knock is that servers always seem tired and less than pleasant. Not UNpleasant mind you, but they always seem really ready to end their shift.

The food was just, but the owner and the server were both extremely rude. The owner stopped by the table next to us to check on their meal and service. When we stopped him to ask a question, he seemed completely inconvenienced. And do not ask Darlene for anything special....she gets upset. We had a party of 7. We will not be back.

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. We would go at least once a month. A few months ago we went and were very disappointed. The prices had taken a big jump and our meal was so so. We went back last night hoping it would be better. Only problem was it was worse! It is still overpriced, but now the service has declined. The waiter forgot my cole slaw, the fries were cold and the bill was incorrect. They had overcharged us on the wine. I really wish we could have the Levericks like it was last year!

This is one of the few restaurants that I really like in the area. They offer a good menu and a good value. The crab cakes were phenomenal as well as the scallops. The service and atmosphere was great too! I'll definitely be coming back.

Leverock's feels like your average family seafood restaurant (a step up from a chain of this sort). It's a good place for a casual meal and seafood. Nothing blew me away, but it was fine. I wouldn't be in a rush to come back, but wouldn't be opposed to it if it were convenient.

This place has a surprisingly well-kept, contemporary atmosphere inside and very good food. The Clam Chowder was exceptional and the lunch special of the blackened salmon and wedge salad was very flavorful and at a good price. Johnny Leverock's story (from the menu) is a true American tale, and his place didn't disappoint!

we've been here off and on over the years, and the food is consistently good. early bird today, and it was a nice value. food is fresh, salads were good, and fish was delish. waiter, Alex, was excellent. we will be back.

Very ordinary food. It was much better in pervious years. The salad was tiny and came just minutes before the meal. Our server seemed unsure of the menus.

Leverock's has been a Pinellas County institution for over 40 years. They started with one restaurant, expanded to several and have now retracted to this new location a few years ago. Even in its heyday, I wasn't a big fan. The food was always nice but a little bland and not very exciting. Everything was pretty good, but nothing stood out. At least, when they expanded, many of their locations had pretty water views. Now this lone survivor is in a converted Ponderosa Steak House surrounded by strip malls and parking lots. The food it still just OK. It appears popular with seniors and many of the items seem to be from menus I saw 30 years ago. The lobster bisque was pretty good but way too gummy. There seems to be a school of thought that the quality of lobster bisque or clam chowder is solely judged by thickness! The fried shrimp were tough. Other dishes had goopy sauces. My biggest complaint had to do with the service. While not particularly bad, it was more appropriate for a diner. When many of our entrees were $20+, service should have been a little more polished. I don't mind them stacking up dishes on the table or passing me items to pass down when I'm at Denny's. But when I'm paying decent prices, that is kind of ridiculous.

The food here is pure perfection! I can say without a doubt they have the best crab cakes I have ever had, EVER! Everything is good but I would also recommend the scallops.

Growing up in Pinellas County, Leverock's was always a staple for my family. I was quite sad when many of them started to disappear, particularly the on on Clearwater Beach - we had our Homecoming Dinner there one year and it was so wonderful! A few months ago, my husband mentioned going down to this one in Pasadena, and I had to take him up on it! We went and the food was fantastic - I had the stuffed tilapia and fried shrimp, which is a stretch for me as I'm not usually a shrimp person, but they were delicious! We went again last week for our 3rd Wedding Anniversary and yet again it was fantastic! My husband got the trio again (he loves the salmon) and I decided on the Hawaiian Butterfish on recommendation of the waitress. She described it as tasting like sweet crab and she was completely right! I'm picky with fish and was quite surprised and pleased with my dish. A bit on the pricey side, but it was worth it for an anniversary dinner. The caesar salad is also top notch! I'll eat the majority of it when I usually barely touch my salads! While this isn't an every week or even every month type of place for us due to the price, it is definitely a special occasion go-to!

One word. AMAZING! We went to check this restaurant out for a rehearsal dinner and it was more than worth it. Our waitress Tamra was wonderful and gave great suggestions for our dinners. The pricing was awesome for early diners (before 5:30). I got the Seafood Martinique, which was lump crab meat, shrimp, and scallops in a puff pastry with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. The San Francisco was also ordered by our party without and regret. We will definitely be back!!

We went to Leverock's on the recommendation of my in-laws who had been to the one on Clearwater Beach years before and loved it. Unfortunately, something has changed at Leverock's and not for the better. My wife had a salad with the house dressing and thought it was disgusting, their house dressing. She also had the stuffed talapia and thought it was mostly meh, though whatever sauce they put on it was also disgusting. I had the crab cakes which were okay, but nothing to write home about. The kids had popcorn shrimp, overcooked with tails (on a "kids" menu), and the "Kraft Macaroni and Cheese." Seriously guys, "Kraft" is on your menu and you're charging me more than the buck it costs for an entire box? The AC must have been on the fritz as it was just as muggy inside the restaurant as it was outside, their lemonade was "fresh" out of a pop machine (can't even make fresh lemonade on the beach in Florida?), and our waitress treated us more like a bother than anything else. The only thing saving this rating was the clam chowder (which my wife said was good) and the bread which was warm. This was our first night in St. Pete and we were hoping that this would be a restaurant to explore on our vacation, but we'll be exploring other restaurants in the area instead.

We've been going to Treasure Island for years now so we're pretty familiar with the area. This building gets new owners every few years. This time we went in for dinner and while there was nothing wrong with the food or the service, there also was nothing special about it. Yep, it was just ok.
